PPL(H)

Minimum age, educational requirements (including language), and medical requirements:
- Before conducting their first solo flight, a student pilot must be at least 16 years old. An applicant for a PPL(H) license must be at least 17 years old. Age must be verified by a legal document.
- Before the first solo flight, a Class 2 aviation medical certificate is required for the PPL(H) license.
The theoretical part consists of 100 hours of training in the form of classroom group sessions and distance learning. During this part, you must acquire knowledge in the following areas:
- Aviation law
- General helicopter knowledge
- Flight planning and performance
- Human performance and limitations
- Meteorology
- Navigation
- Operational procedures
- Principles of flight
- Communication
- General safety during flight operations
Upon successful completion of the internal examination, the student will receive a certificate that will allow them to take the examination at the Civil Aviation Authority.
An applicant for the PPL(H) license must complete a minimum of 45 hours of flight training in helicopters, of which 5 hours may be credited on a flight procedure and navigation training device (FNPT) or FFS simulator, including at least:
- 25 hours of flight training with an instructor; and
- 10 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 5 hours of solo flight time in cross-country flights, including at least 1 cross-country flight with a distance of at least 185 km (100 nautical miles), during which full stop landings must be performed at two airports other than the departure airport.
- 35 out of 45 hours of flight training must be credited on the same type of helicopter on which the practical examination will be conducted.
An applicant for the PPL(H) license who already holds an LAPL(H) license must complete training that includes at least 5 hours of flight training with an instructor and at least 1 supervised solo cross-country flight with a distance of at least 185 km (100 nautical miles), during which full stop landings must be performed at two airports other than the departure airport.
A candidate holding a pilot license for another category of aircraft, except for balloons, receives a 10% credit for the total pilot-in-command flight time, up to 6 hours.
