Private Pilot License (Aeroplane)
The privileges of the holder of Private Pilot License (Aeroplane) are to act without remuneration as PIC in non-commercial operations on a SEP(L) aeroplanes with a maximum certified take-off mass not exceeding 5700 kg. A PPL(A) training program includes 100 hours of theoretical course and minimum 45 hours of practical training where 5 hours might be conducted in Flight Simulation Training Device like FNTP II. ATO Smart Aviation provides whole flight time in aeroplanes. After PPL(A) issue a pilot may start ATPL(A) theoretical course. A good practice is to start night VFR training as soon as PPL(A) is issued.
- a student pilot for a PPL(A) shall be at least 16 years of age before first solo flight
- applicants for a PPL(A) shall be at least 17 years of age
- a Class 2 medical certificate is required for the holder/applicant of a PPL(A).
- 100 hours of theoretical course;
- minimum 45 hours of practical training;
- multiple choice exams in 9 subjects in Polish CAA (a pass in a subject is awarded to an applicant achieving at least 75%);
- a PPL(A) is issued after successful check ride completing.
Priviliges and limitations:
- the privileges of the holder of a PPL(A) are to act without remuneration as PIC in non-commercial operations on SEP (land) aeroplanes with a maximum certified take-off mass not exceeding 5700 kg;
- the holder of a PPL(A) may carry passengers but is not allowed to fly for reward unless becomes a flight instructor with FI(A)R rating and conducts a training flight with the student-pilot which might be rewarded;
- the holder of a PPL(A) may fly under VFR by day, and by night if a night rating is held after having completed 5 hours of night VFR training in Approved Training Organization;
- the PPL(A) holder may fly in international airspace on EASA registered aeroplanes if ICAO English Level 4 or higher is obtained.
EASA PPL(A) is valid for lifetime but SEP(L) rating is only valid for two years, to keep this ‘current’ you must fly at least 12 hours in the last year before expiry, of which one hour must be with a flying instructor. If you fail to do this you must then revalidate your rating with an approved CAA examiner. A pilot may get other ratings within a PPL(A) like Instrument Rating, Multi Engine or even become a Flight Instructor if only meets specific requirements for each rating.

Read it carefully:
- be advised that 23% of VAT must be added to the final price of PPL(A) training;
- aviation fees shall be paid into a CAA bank account referring to the list of aviation fees;
